Hunting Report 9/1/16

JD’s Hunting Report from Thursday, September 1, 2016

Clients are out now in the field.  Scouts from yesterday evening showed that we are still lacking good numbers of birds due to recent rains and high winds.  Dove Hunting will most likely be slow due to those factors.   Looking to see what the northern (that is blowing in later today )will bring us.  If you have a dove hunt already booked please call our office for latest updates.

Teal are starting to come in and we have water.  Call for more info on Teal Hunts!  Teal Season is September 10 – 25 with a bag limit of six.

We are looking forward to Deer Season.  Recently purchase 5 new deer blinds to replace aging older ones and we are beginning work on food plots next week.

Now that it's beginning to dry up we are currently working on waterfowl project repairs again and hope to have everything completed and ready to go in time before the fall rains begin.

Michael’s Minute: From the booking office:  Just a reminder for those wanting to know about our hours this season.  MRO is closed on Sunday afternoons and Mondays throughout the rest of season  (We will be open all day Sunday, September 4 and Monday, September 5 for Dove Hunts.)  If you would like to do a Sunday Dove Hunt, please note that you will only be allowed to hunt until 11:30 am we do not offer a price discount for half day dove hunts. If you have already booked your hunt with us please make sure you have printed out your waiver and have filled it out before you come.  Make sure that you have bought your new hunting license, make sure you have the State Migratory Bird Stamp, be HIP certified on your license, if you are duck hunting make sure you have federal duck stamp and make sure you have completed the Hunters Ed. requirements if you were born after 1972!  If you have questions about any of these items please see the links below for more detailed information from Texas Parks and Wildlife!

I have been advising all hunters who are calling in and who have hunts coming up this week to call me at the office to get the latest details on the bird situation.  While we do not offer refunds we do offer to change your hunt date prior to your old hunt date but you must call me.  If you do not show up you will lose your deposit and no refund will be made.

MRO will start up our main hunting season this year on October 15th, 2016 where we will begin our quail hunts, hog hunts and deer hunts.  Stay tuned this next week for some really great deals on Deer Hunts!

Last of all I would like to send a big shout out to our guide staff!  We have a great Team here at Moody Ranch Outfitters and we would not be here today without recognizing their handwork and commitment to all the divisions of MRO!  Waterfowl, Deer and Hog, Quail, and Fishing!  They have been out every weekend this month getting the ranch ready for your hunt!  Thanks again to our outstanding guides!
